A Resounding Success at the Ring O’ Bells

On Sunday 29th June The Marple Band put on an excellent performance to a large and appreciative crowd at the Ring O’ Bells pub in Marple.

The packed audience was treated to a wide variety of music, from traditional marches and overtures, to film music and swing. We are lucky to have many talented soloists and four of them excelled on the day.

  • Soprano Cornet – Caroline Andrews – O, My Beloved Father
  • Principal Cornet – Andy Liles – Nessun Dorma
  • Flugel Horn – Rachael Ward – Forever Autumn…   …and
  • Principal Euphoniun – Matt Hill – Carnival of Venice

A moment of Latin American pazzaz was injected with a popular foot-tapper, Libertango, featuring Repiano Cornet, Mary Pollock, plus rousing renditions of Trailblaze and Lightwalk, again featuring Rachael Ward. The well received concert closed with the ever popular James Bond theme, Skyfall and an encore of the Floral Dance.

The Marple Band would like to thank the audience for their kind support as £630 was raised on the day from a raffle, collection, auctions and additional generous donations. All are much appreciated and will greatly contribute to helping fund the band’s trip to Cheltenham, in September, to compete in the National Band finals.

Our next concert is on Saturday 12th July at Alderley Edge Golf Club. Please come along and enjoy the music and atmosphere.
