Since March 2020 the band have been unable to play together but have been meeting socially online. Last Autumn, Shelby Sutton produced a couple of online musical collaborations for the band: ‘Ravenswood’ and ‘A Christmas Dream’.We were fortunate to be able to do some socially distanced carolling in December 2020 and the band thoroughly enjoyed entertaining the residents of Brabyns, Arbour Court and Marple Lodge Care Home with Christmas Carols, the weather was kind to the band whilst they performed in the grounds of the homes. We are Interested in genuine, enthusiastic bandsmen and bandswomen who are dedicated to music and with a true passion for playing. Rehearsals are Wednesday and Friday, 8:00 – 10:00pm.
Rehearsals are industrious, but lots of fun, at our own, purpose-built band room in Marple. We can provide an instrument or you can use you own. And you would be part of a friendly, affable team with plenty of post-finale socialising opportunities!

We arrived in Blackpool at 9am ready for the bands final rehearsal in the pouring rain (nobody won the prize for spotting the tower first, it was too cloudy to see).
After the rehearsal the band were drawn 12th in the 1st Section that meant the band packed up at the rehearsal room and headed straight to the Winter Gardens and the changing rooms to get ready for the performance.
At about 1pm we went on stage and performed the Test Piece- Legacy, by Tom Davoren.
The band performed brilliantly with beautiful solo performances from all the soloists (including our principal cornet Nadia, who got a mention on 4bars rest).Continue Reading
