The Marple Band is currently in the North West 2nd Section.
The Marple Band is a traditional brass band based in the small town of Marple, just outside Stockport and on the edge of the Peak District. The Band seeks to enjoy playing quality music at a good standard. Our engagements are aimed at entertaining our audiences, charity work, fund-raising and maintaining and enhancing the band’s relationship with the community.
In March 2014, the band competed at the North West Regional Brass Band Championships in Blackpool and was awarded Second Place, therefore qualifying for the National Finals in Cheltenham, in September, which resulted in another historic win and promotion to the First Section in 2015. The band enters other competitions, for example the Whit Friday march contests and Buxton Brass Band Festival.
We are not a sponsored band and rely for funding on contributions from friends and supporters – our ‘Vice Presidents’ (click here for information about our Vice Presidents’ scheme) – and money earned from performances. If you would like to become a Vice President, please contact us.
The Band rehearses once a week (Friday) from 8.00 – 10.00pm at our new band room based in the Marple Memorial Park.
