The Marple Band, National Champion Band of Great Britain 2014, Second section is delighted to announce the appointment of Sarah Groarke-Booth as their new Musical Director.
Following the recent successful partnership at Cheltenham, Sarah will now take up the baton with Marple at the end of November. Marple is also looking to recruit a front row cornet player so they can be at full strength and continue to strive for further musical successes as they progresses into the First section in 2015. Sarah continues as MD of Tintwistle Band, who kindly agreed to Sarah conducting Marple at the recent National Finals.

In a historic setting, more famous for the ‘Gold Cup’, The Marple Band triumphed by a clear length to once again bring home the silverware and become the Second Section National Champions.
It was a truly memorable occasion for the band, rekindling many memories, as we gathered for photos, moments after hearing the winning announcement, “…the band that played third…”
It was a Herculean team effort for the band, following an earlier, unsettled run-up to the contest, which was carefully orchestrated by Sarah Groarke-Booth, who returned to conduct the band she played for in her youth, only three weeks prior to the contest. Continue Reading
