Aimed at providing you with all the latest news, concerts and band personnel.
The Marple Band is a traditional brass band whose home is the small town of Marple, just outside Stockport and on the edge of the peak district. The Band is not contesting at present but seeks to enjoy playing quality music at a good standard. We do a number of local engagements - mainly concerts for charity work, fund-raising and to maintain and enhance the band's relationship with the community. This workload suits players who are not seeking to commit to the demands of a contesting band. We may occasionally enter a minor contest, for example the Whit Friday march contests.
We are not a sponsored band and rely for funding on contributions from friends and supporters – our 'Vice Presidents' – and money earned from performances. To read about becomomg a Vice President click here.
Rehearsals
The Band rehearse once a week (Friday), 8.00 – 10.00pm, upstairs at the Marple Conservative Club, Church Lane, Marple.
